About The Position
The Subway Crew Member greets and serves guests, prepares food, maintains food safety and sanitation standards, and handles or processes light paperwork. Exceptional customer service is a major component of the position. The role requires working in any area of the restaurant as needed and operating a computerized Point of Sale system or cash register. The description provides guidelines for job expectations and basic duties; it is not an exhaustive list. Supervisors may assign additional functions and requirements. Employment is at-will, and the company reserves the right to change the job description or assign tasks as appropriate.
Requirements
- Some high school education or equivalent.
- No previous experience required.
- Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work in any area of the restaurant when needed and operate a computerized Point of Sale system or cash register.
- Ability to bend, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests and prepare their orders in a cheerful and helpful manner.
- Understand menu items and explain them accurately to guests.
- Use the Point of Sale system or cash register to record orders, calculate bills, collect payments, and make change.
- Perform cash-in procedures, accounting for money, bread, and other items during the shift.
- Prepare food neatly, according to formula, and in a timely manner.
- Check and restock products in the sandwich unit area to maintain sufficient supplies throughout the shift.
- Follow proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation, service, and cleanup.
- Clean and maintain all restaurant areas, following the three-step cleaning method.
- Follow quality standards, formulas, and procedures in the SUBWAY Operations Manual.
- Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the SUBWAY Operations Manual.
- Perform light paperwork duties as assigned.
- Complete University of SUBWAY courses as directed.
