The Marketplace Food Shelf, Housing Programs, Shop for Change Thrift Shop, and Children's Programs operate in a professional and dignified manner, allowing program participants the opportunity to choose the products and resources that are most helpful for their situations. We are currently hiring a Farmer's Market SNAP Coordinator. Key details about this position: Be a part of providing fresh, locally grown food for low-income community members Participate in the Golden Valley Farmer's Market starting at 8:00 AM through 3:00 PM Sundays from June 21 - October 25. Outside of the market attendance itself, we anticipate about 2 hours of work per week to perform admin and coordination duties so this can be done while holding a full time job. Start the week of June 15 for training. Perform close out activities after the final market to ensure accurate season end compliance reporting. Pay is $18.00 per hour. Job Summary The Farmer's Market SNAP Coordinator manages the SNAP/EBT program at the Golden Valley Farmers Market to improve access to fresh, locally grown food for low-income community members. This role also supports vendors, enhances PRISM's community presence, and coordinates the collection of food donations at the close of each market.

Requirements

  • Customer service and/or retail experience
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in computer skills and comfortable with technology
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Cash handling skills
  • Familiarity with food assistance programs (SNAP)
  • Ability and willingness to routinely lift 50 pounds
  • Passion for healthy eating, locally grown food, and food justice
  • Reliability and ability to work with autonomy
  • Some Customer Service experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Farmers Market or retail SNAP experience
  • Safe Food Transport or Food Manager training

Responsibilities

  • Manage the SNAP/EBT program at the Golden Valley Farmers Market.
  • Improve access to fresh, locally grown food for low-income community members.
  • Support vendors, enhance PRISM's community presence, and coordinate the collection of food donations at the close of each market.
  • Understand and comply with guidelines and requirements for the SNAP/EBT program and related food assistance initiatives, including Market Bucks and WIC.
  • Operate the EBT card reader and dispense tokens according to established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to card readers, internet connectivity, or equipment, and contact backup support as needed.
  • Build positive working relationships with market vendors.
  • Assist vendors in understanding program rules and regulations.
  • Support vendors with accurate tracking of token transactions.
  • Help resolve program-related issues or disputes.
  • Encourage vendor feedback and suggestions for program improvement.
  • Provide welcoming, respectful customer service to all market participants.
  • Stay informed about PRISM programs and nutrition resources.
  • Assist customers with questions, product selection, and vendor locations.
  • Represent PRISM positively to community members and partners.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork, tracking, and accounting before and after market operations.
  • Ensure proper documentation of token distribution, redemption, and reconciliation.
  • Assist with required reporting related to SNAP and market programming.
  • Maintain SNAP/EBT equipment and ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Keep supplies stocked and ready, including charged batteries, receipts, reporting forms, and collection logs.
  • Set up and tear down the PRISM booth, including tents, tables, signage, and displays.
  • Coordinate the collection of donated food from vendors at the close of each market.
  • Ensure donations are handled safely and appropriately.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and check-ins as directed.
