About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide professional employment counseling services, needs assessments, vocational evaluations and employment preparation, and training for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program participants. Work is done with general supervision and is accomplished by contacting SNAP participants referred by the Department of Human Services and performing assessments and interviews for inclusion into the SNAP E&T program; explaining client responsibility, rights and program availability; administering assessment tools to determine interest and suitability for the program; referring participants to Adult Basic Education; enrolling participants in the State reporting system. The SNAP E & T Coordinator is the primary liaison between the adult education center and its community partners. The Coordinator will support all recruitment, retention and certificate completion activities of SNAP participants. This position is heavily immersed in technology use. Candidates need to have extensive knowledge in use of Microsoft Office 365 applications, Zoom, Teams, and digital SMS software. Candidates will be required to set-up and administer SNAP E&T workshops, seminars, and other services at locations throughout Saline, Pulaski, and surrounding counties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two or more years' experience in program administration, case management, or related area.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Computer skills: data management; internet; email; MICROSOFT Office 365, Adobe, Zoom, Teams, digital SMS.
  • Office Machines: copier, fax, phone system, laminator.
  • Phone skills.
  • Knowledge of case management procedures and confidentiality policies.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and sit.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Process referrals received from SNAP E&T Central Office on a weekly basis
  • Follow the guidelines in the DHS SNAP E&T Handbook & SNAP E&T Manual
  • Conduct a preliminary assessment of individuals in a timely manner to TABE, Scale Scores, and Educational Functional Level
  • Provide reverse referrals for individuals when necessary
  • Serve as participant case coordinator and help in the development of an individual education/career plan.
  • Complete an Employment Plan for each participant and update as needed
  • Provide job search assistance
  • Monitor participants progress monthly and provide steps to help maintain successful progress
  • Maintain up-to-date participant files
  • Identifies barriers faced by participants and develop a solution
  • Complete all required reports in a timely manner
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
  • Successful candidates must complete the Career Services Provider (CSP) Course within one (1) year of hire.
  • The candidate must have a commitment to working cooperatively with other campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of the College and have the ability to deliver quality customer service.
  • This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
  • When applicable, Employee may complete recruitment, retention, and other duties related to operations of the Adult Education program including WAGE Coordinator when or if funding is split between grants. The SNAP E& T Coordinator duties must always be primary.
  • Candidates will be required to set-up and administer SNAP E&T workshops, seminars, and other services at locations throughout Saline, Pulaski, and surrounding counties.
