About The Position

The Family Worker delivers services and advocacy for families enrolled in the Head Start program, aligned with Performance Standards and the U.C.C.A.C., Inc. Head Start Plan. The role supports family engagement, school readiness goals, and full enrollment. Work includes recruitment and enrollment, strength-based goal setting, home visits, referrals, parent engagement activities, transition planning, and accurate documentation in GoEngage. The position is primarily onsite and involves coordination with the Center Director and other service staff, with occasional evening commitments and brief classroom coverage.

Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.
At least two years of experience working with at-risk families.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends.
If the degree is in another discipline, complete a related credential within 18 months.
Fingerprint Day Care background check required.

Responsibilities

Support recruitment and enrollment through events, waitlist interviews, and collection of eligibility documentation.
Set strength-based goals with families.
Conduct required home visits at least three times per year.
Make referrals and follow up with families.
Support parent orientations, workshops, Parent Committee, and Policy Council activities.
Plan for transitions.
Maintain accurate documentation in GoEngage.
Coordinate with the Center Director and other service staff regarding family needs and upcoming meetings.
Provide brief classroom coverage on some days.
