Youth Villages’ Family Service Worker (FSW) program partners with Tennessee’s Department of Children’s Services to provide family-centered, strength-based case management to youth from birth through age 18 and their families. Families may be referred by other DCS program areas, juvenile courts, or through self-referral. The program aims to increase stability, strengthen relationships, build self-sufficiency, and enhance well-being and permanency through individualized services, assessments, and resources. The Family Service Worker serves as a youth’s guardian, carries a caseload of 15 to 20 cases, and develops and monitors permanency plans. Services are delivered in families’ homes or other locations where they are needed, such as schools or courts. The role includes on-call crisis support, ensuring and documenting medical, dental, and educational needs, and completing timely records in an electronic medical record system. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. Applicants need a valid driver’s license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance. Community-based staff receive reimbursement for applicable mileage. The stated salary is $52,000–$60,000 per year, based on education and clinical license.
