This is a 12-month term position for a Family Service Social Worker within the FS 13-19 Yrs Old Team. The role involves providing culturally appropriate and responsive community-based services to Indigenous children, youth, and families. Services will align with the BC Child, Family and Community Services Act and Aboriginal Operational and Practice Standards and Indicators (AOPSI). The Social Worker will be the first point of contact for child protection reports and will collaborate with families, community members, Band Designates, Elders, and other supports in case planning and service delivery. The position covers Family Development Response, Protective and Voluntary Family Service, and Guardianship. The role requires knowledge of Community Protocols and participation in community events and ceremonies. Xyólheméylh emphasizes embedding culture through an Elders Advisory Council to uphold agency goals, missions, and values.
