About The Position

FIREFLY is seeking a regular full time Family Resource Worker at our Kenora EarlyON Child and Family Centre, located within the Kenora Library. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support children ages 0-6 and their families through inclusive, community-based programming and outreach. FIREFLY is a multi-service, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the health and well-being of children, youth, and families. We provide community-based, mental health, and developmental services across Northwestern Ontario in partnership with families, schools, child care centres, and community organizations.

Requirements

  • Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent education.
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Knowledge of child and family development.
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultures.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for work use as required.
  • Current clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screen is required.
  • Ability to manage a reasonable workload with effective prioritization and follow-up
  • Value the concept of teamwork and ability to work independently
  • Commitment to promoting and respecting FIREFLY's health and safety policies

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the Anishinaabe culture, First Nation communities and language is a definite asset.
  • Fluency in French would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide programming functions including fostering a supportive atmosphere for families to address parenting issues, child development stages, and other areas of concern.
  • Provide early learning and literacy opportunities as well as ensuring the programming meets the objectives and requirements of the EarlyON Child and Family Centres.
  • Together with the Coordinator, assess the needs of the community and plan, prepare, and conduct appropriate information and/or training programs to fulfill those needs.
