About The Position

Under general supervision of the Manager, the Family Navigator (FN) Supervisor works closely with the Medical Director, other Supervisors, and the Manager to oversee the daily operations and environment of care at CARES NW. The role directly supervises Family Navigators, Ward Pediatric social workers, and other assigned staff, and collaborates with the Multnomah County Family Support Team Supervisor to support continuity of care for patients. The Supervisor participates on the CARES NW Operations Committee, may represent CARES NW at county multidisciplinary team meetings or meetings addressing child abuse and neglect, provides training to community members or other professionals as appropriate, provides clinical supervision for clinical staff as needed, and backs up clinical and other staff as needed. Family Navigators are social workers with comprehensive knowledge of trauma treatment modalities, crisis intervention, and case management. They use critical thinking and social work ethics to assess and meet the needs of patients and their families or caregivers by coordinating care throughout the care continuum. The position requires a strong racial equity lens and the ability to institutionalize racial equity across programs, policies, and procedures. CARES Northwest focuses on prevention, medical evaluation, treatment, and support to help children and families overcome the crisis of abuse and move toward hope and healing. Established in 1987, it is one of the nation’s oldest children’s advocacy centers and the largest in Oregon. The program is a collaboration among Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, OHSU’s Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, Providence Children’s Health, and child abuse multidisciplinary partners in Multnomah and Washington counties.
