About The Position

Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a busy matrimonial and family law practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and organizational skills, experience conducting legal research, and a solid understanding of family law, estate planning, and related civil matters. This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and provide effective support in a fast-paced legal environment.

Requirements

  • 5 years of legal assistant experience.
  • 5 years’ experience in matrimonial and family law required.
  • Strong knowledge of legal administrative procedures and law office operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, NJ Courts e-filing systems, and AbacusLaw case management software.
  • Experience using Westlaw and LexisNexis for legal research and case analysis.
  • Excellent organizational, proofreading, and document management skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and other case-related documents professionally and accurately.
  • Experience with client intake, case file management, and litigation support.
  • Strong communication, multitasking, and administrative support skills in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating appointments.
  • Conduct legal research in family law, estate planning, landlord-tenant matters, and related areas using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research tools.
  • Draft, proofread, and review legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, contracts, and case summaries.
  • Maintain and organize case files and legal documents using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw.
  • Perform data entry, document review, and filing in accordance with firm procedures and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with litigation support, including discovery, document preparation, and court filing coordination.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and outside agencies, managing correspondence and follow-up as needed.
  • Support attorneys with case-related projects and other legal administrative tasks as assigned.
