About The Position

Duke Law Firm, P.C. is a growing New York family law firm seeking a Family Law Associate Attorney for a hybrid/remote position in Rochester, NY. The firm has been serving clients across an eight-county region in Southern Tier and Western New York for over 25 years, assisting individuals and families with divorce, custody disputes, support matters, and family court proceedings. This role offers experienced mentoring, substantial paralegal and administrative support, and the opportunity to manage meaningful cases from intake through resolution. The firm emphasizes performance-based recognition and rewards, with compensation directly tied to work impact rather than tenure or office politics. A new Client Experience Center is planned for opening in Fall 2026.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license in good standing to practice in New York State.
  • Strong client-service mindset and high ethical standards.
  • Highly responsive to clients, and skilled in communication, organization, and case management.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Family law experience of at least two years (divorce/custody/support and/or family court work).
  • Candidates demonstrating a strong commitment to a career as a family law attorney will be considered.
  • Experience managing a caseload with deadlines and performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with practice management technology and modern workflows.
  • Experience with a billable hours structure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage family law matters from intake through resolution, including divorce/matrimonial actions, child custody and visitation, child support/spousal support (maintenance), and other Family Court proceedings.
  • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery, agreements, and affidavits.
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Regularly litigate, including hearings, trials, conferences, and other proceedings as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and support teams to deliver an excellent client experience.
