About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which provides services to the homeless, food-insecure, uninsured patients, and unhoused individuals. This CSLP student worker position is approved as Community Service, offering services to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on the operational hours and needs of St. Vincent de Paul, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. Applicants must complete their FAFSA to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility.

Requirements

  • Must be bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates clear, concise, and effective communication skills across diverse audiences.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities and consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome families, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Build meaningful connections with families to support ongoing engagement.
  • Participate in events, giveaways, raffles, bingo, and other FEM/DC activities.
  • Sort and prepare items for giveaways and special events.
  • Collaborate with staff to improve program flow and overall family experience.
  • Assist with registration and general support in the dining room.
  • Assist with serving in the dining room.
  • Take photos and upload them for proper documentation.
  • Assist families with entering or updating their information in the Uplift system.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and services (Excel/data entry).
  • Support program documentation to track engagement and services provided.
  • Other duties as assigned.
