About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations, specifically 501(c)(3) organizations, to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with St. Joseph the Worker, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to empower individuals facing significant obstacles to achieve long-term stability through quality employment. This Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) student worker position is approved as community service, providing services to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on the operating hours and needs of St. Joseph the Worker, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. CSLP student workers may also work during the summer if eligible. Applicants must complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be reviewed for Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and check in clients upon arrival, providing courteous and informative responses to inquiries.
  • Support clients in developing and refining their résumés to enhance job readiness.
  • Collect, organize, and file all necessary initial client documentation.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of both front and back-office areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
