About The Position

Jeremiah Program (JP) is a national organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children across two generations. By focusing on both the mother's personal and professional development and her children's education, JP aims to transform family outcomes and community impact. In 2025, JP served over 2,000 individuals across nine cities. The Family Coach role is crucial in supporting JP participants in achieving foundational stability, completing higher education, and ensuring their children thrive. This role involves providing transformative coaching, thought partnership, resources, and support to mothers as they navigate their journeys and work to disrupt generational poverty.

Requirements

  • BA/BS (Master’s degree preferred) in human services, social work, or related field.
  • At least two years of coaching experience, preferably with coursework or training in life, family, or executive coaching.
  • Strong ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, and be at ease building successful collaborations with program participants, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the impact of structural inequities that lead to generational poverty.
  • Demonstrate strong project management and problem-solving skills in pursuit of outcomes for families.
  • Thorough knowledge of training, education, and resources available in the community.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, interact with management, direct service staff and participants to ensure high quality service delivery.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and ability to learn Salesforce database.
  • Must believe in and be a passionate advocate for JP’s mission and values.
  • Must possess a deep desire to support families and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Support moms in setting and working toward personal and academic goals through ongoing coaching, accountability, and connection to resources and referrals, while creating a safe, judgment-free space rooted in respect for each mom’s humanity and an understanding of the systemic barriers impacting families experiencing poverty.
  • Co-develop individual goal plans for participants to provoke self-discovery and personal growth; engage in goal setting and meaningful action.
  • Coach participants by encouraging agency, promoting alignment between their personal values and actions, and generating innovative solutions using empowerment techniques.
  • Act as an accountability partner to participants as they strive towards their self-determined individual goals and navigate systems to achieve economic mobility, including college completion and career ambitions.
  • Provide support, crisis intervention, guidance, and resource referrals to address barriers such as housing, legal services, immigration, finances, and food security.
  • Reinforce program concepts and tools learned in JP programming.
  • Work closely with the Family Services Director to deliver high-quality programming that is responsive and meaningful.
  • Support Empowerment & Leadership (E&L) programming by welcoming moms into coaching and coordinating Sisterhood events.
  • Partner with moms to support their children’s development and learning needs, including coordination around IEPs and planning for summer enrichment and other developmental supports.
  • Support moms in the goal-setting process, guiding college and career pathway planning, and tracking academic progress and credit completion.
  • Understand and apply program policies, protocols, and processes, tracking participant progress and outcomes, and providing redirection and follow-up.
  • Provide parent programming occasionally held on evenings or weekends.
  • Support community partnerships and events.
  • Assist in planning Graduation and other participant events.
  • Contribute to and learn from multiple professional communities at the local site and across JP, collaborating across the organization.
  • Use data and participant insights to identify patterns, trends, and emerging needs, partnering with the Family Services Director to adapt programming, supports, and partnerships.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in Salesforce and other systems, using data and reporting tools to reflect on outreach efforts, participant progress, and individual performance, ensuring compliance with program requirements and continuous improvement in service delivery.
