About The Position

A part-time, long-term Family Assistant role supporting a family with three children, ages 10, 6, and 1. The position focuses primarily on the two school-aged children during the after-school window; the youngest is in full-time daycare until approximately 5:30–6:00 p.m., so little baby care is involved. The family is warm, creative, and active, and values an assistant who enjoys children, brings personality and curiosity, and helps keep everyday family life calm and organized. The role is approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, generally 3:00–7:00 p.m., with some flexibility. Modest schedule changes or occasional extra coverage may be needed during certain weeks, while predictability and mutual respect around scheduling remain important. The family hopes to build a consistent, long-term working relationship. The position is in a walkable Washington, DC neighborhood, with the school about 8–10 minutes away on foot. No benefits are provided.

Requirements

Experience working within a family setting.
Genuinely enjoy school-aged children.
Be reliable, communicative, emotionally mature, steady, and capable.
Use good judgment and common sense, and notice and handle household needs proactively.
Have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Be comfortable driving children to and from school and activities.
Seek a part-time role intended to be long-term, rather than temporary work while seeking a full-time role.
