The University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (PME) and Biological Sciences Division (BSD) seek a jointly appointed faculty member at any rank. This broad-area search invites applicants whose cross-disciplinary research programs aim to advance fundamental and translational research in medicine and bioengineering. The appointee will have a primary appointment in either PME or BSD and a secondary appointment in the other division. The faculty member will establish and maintain a robust research program and teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Academic rank, tenure status, and compensation depend on qualifications. PME focuses on translating molecular science into solutions in health and immunology, quantum information technology, and environmental sustainability. Its Immunoengineering and Bioengineering Institute conducts work in areas including immunophysiology, vaccine technologies, cell and tissue engineering, systems and computational biology, microbiome engineering, high-throughput methods, quantum biology, protein engineering, and automated and autonomous labs. PME faculty collaborate with BSD and research organizations in the Chicago area. BSD includes research-intensive clinical and basic science departments, interdisciplinary programs, institutes, and centers. It supports research and researcher training through collaboration among clinical, translational, and basic science faculty, and provides research and educational facilities including the Gordon Center for Integrative Science and the Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery. The position is benefits-eligible. Before employment begins, qualified applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent. Applications are especially welcome from candidates with research interests in medicine and engineering.
