About The Position

Covenant College, an academically rigorous Christian college emphasizing the liberal arts in the Reformed and Presbyterian tradition, is seeking a tenure-track faculty member for its English Department. The position begins July 1, 2027, with rank and compensation commensurate with experience. The department is looking for an individual with a degree in writing and the expertise to teach various courses within the writing concentration. This includes English Composition and Introduction to Creative Writing, with the ability to direct a writing center and/or teach courses such as Journalism, Introduction to Professional Writing, Fiction, Poetry, or Creative Nonfiction.

Requirements

• A terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in writing from a regionally accredited institution
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching
• Interest in mentoring undergraduates
• Commitment to the mission of Covenant College

Responsibilities

• Teach 2-3 writing courses each semester
• Teach 1-2 core courses each semester
• Advise and mentor students
• Meet with prospective students
• Supervise the student newspaper and/or the student literary magazine
• Participate in the life of the campus community and faculty governance
