About The Position

The Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School and University of Minnesota Physicians (M Physicians) seek a full-time academic plastic surgeon. This position will include clinical practice in the Twin Cities metropolitan area as well as academic responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. Academic rank at the University of Minnesota will be at the commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is led by Umar Choudry, MD - a recognized leader in academic medicine. Our surgeons provide expertise in all areas of plastic surgery and are dedicated to outstanding patient care, surgical innovation, and academic excellence.

Requirements

  • MD or equivalent degree.
  • Completion of an accredited ACGME Plastic Surgery residency and/or fellowship training program.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Plastic Surgery.
  • Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in Minnesota.
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, communication, collaboration, and commitment to academic surgery.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsurgical training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • General Plastic Surgery opportunity with emphasis on Breast, Wound Care, and General Reconstruction.
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient clinical care.
  • Participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Engagement in scholarly activity.
  • Participation in service to the department, institution, and profession.
