About The Position

The Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Knight Cancer Institute, a leader in personalized cancer medicine and research, is seeking a Faculty Physician specializing in Classical Hematology, Hemostasis, and Thrombosis. This role is within the Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology, a large division with multiple programs. Located in Portland, Oregon, OHSU offers a collaborative environment within a comprehensive healthcare university. The institute is focused on advancing early cancer detection and targeted treatments, with a recent significant gift aimed at revolutionizing hematologic and cancer care. The position involves patient care, education of medical students and residents, scholarly activity, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have expertise in General Hematology, Hemostasis, and Thrombosis, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration and teaching skills. The General Hematology service includes inpatient and outpatient consults, with collaborations with Pediatric colleagues and other services. The Hemophilia Center is a regional hub for the Mountain States Hemophilia Network and a national leader in bleeding and clotting disorder care.

Requirements

  • MD OR MD/PhD
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board eligible/certified in Hematology and or/Medical Oncology

  • History of success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research
  • Desire to deliver the best care possible to cancer patients in a clinical research environment

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the education of medical students and house staff.
  • Care of patients with hematologic disease.
  • Establish and maintain a program of scholarly activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection and treatment of hematologic disease.

  • Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups.
