About The Position

At Raytheon, we are dedicated to solving mission-level challenges and making a significant impact. We are seeking a Factory Quality Engineer to join our Operations Quality team in Farmington, NM. This on-site role involves interfacing with factory teams to support production, conduct first article inspections, create and maintain work/inspection instructions, and prepare for audits. The Raytheon Dine Facility adheres to the Navajo Nation Preference in Employment Act. This position offers the opportunity to learn and utilize our Raytheon Quality Management System and potentially train for a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience.
  • Experience reviewing schematic drawings as part of the assembly process.
  • Experience using quality tools (e.g., Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in negotiating, having difficult conversations, and ability to work well with factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in auditing process and product/process improvements in the factory or at suppliers.
  • Experience with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Six Sigma or ASQ Certification.
  • Data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Verify product and process compliance with contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, and internal policies.
  • Regularly generate and publish Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics.
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure, and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB).
  • Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary.
  • Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management.
  • Develop and maintain inspection instructions, ensuring they meet technical data package requirements and production needs.
  • Regularly interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
  • Participate in daily status meetings with factory support, factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders to manage issues.
  • Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions.
