About The Position

The Facilities Technician 1 executes a preventative maintenance program and supports troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of the building’s material handling equipment. The role also supports the Operations team in designing maintenance solutions for difficult problems and maintenance projects, and contributes to building and department goals. The position is based at the Cedar Rapids Fulfillment Center and is scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, 1:30 PM to 12:00 AM.

Requirements

Knowledge of the operation and repair of material handling equipment.
Knowledge of power tools and pneumatic or hydraulic tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience with conveyors, electrical systems, and building maintenance.
Basic knowledge of control systems and PLCs.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of material handling systems and conveyors, including motor/reducer issues, belt tracking, and belt lacing.
Support troubleshooting of basic relay logic, ladder diagrams, and control components, including photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachs, and encoders.
Safely operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and hand tools.
Use a work order system and create and close out work orders documenting labor hours, equipment maintenance, and parts used.
Maintain positive working relationships across all departments within the Nordstrom facility.
Move up to 49 pounds and stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
