The Facilities Skilled Trades HVAC Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of HVAC/R equipment on Canaveral Port Authority property. This position requires an advanced understanding of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration principles, including the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair high- and low-voltage control systems. This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager and requires the ability to work weekends. Essential Functions Must possess working knowledge of all aspects of HVAC/R equipment repair and maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment including replacement of defective parts such as thermostats, safety switches, fan controls, fan motors, pumps, bearings, relays, fuses, compressors, and coils as needed. Chiller maintenance experience is preferred. Operate a variety of hand and power tools, as well as the ability to use acetylene torch, vacuum pumps and reclaim machines. Skills and abilities to inspect, repair, and modify HVAC equipment. Knowledge of computers is necessary to access building automated systems and emails. Working knowledge of HVAC controls systems and ability to troubleshoot such systems. Complete work orders and forms to ensure all documents regarding repairs/maintenance are complete. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics and M.E.P. as they relate to buildings. Apply methods, practices, and procedures in prevention, maintenance, inspection, and repair. Safely operate state vehicles and/or construction equipment when weather conditions permit. Installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning equipment. Identifying maintenance risk of equipment. Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems. Performing emergency repairs. Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA). During emergency conditions, all CPA employees are automatically considered essential employees and may be subject to recall. These events may include, but are not limited to, natural, man-made, or public health emergencies. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours. Performs other related duties as assigned.
