About The Position

This position helps maintain and improve the appearance and condition of university buildings. The technician performs repairs, renovations, installations, and finishing work on interior and exterior building features; responds to maintenance issues; assists other trades; and helps ensure facilities meet safety and building standards. The position is based at University Hospital - Doan Hall and is scheduled for 40 hours on the second shift. Work schedule, location, and hours may change based on operational needs. Overtime may be required, and the employee may participate in a 24-hour emergency response rotation. Final candidates must successfully complete a background check; a drug screen or physical may be required after an offer.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
At least 2 years of experience in construction, carpentry, fire-stopping, or painting.
Ability to become qualified in two of these specialties: carpentry, finishing, fire-stopping, or flooring.
OSHA 10 certification, to be obtained during the probation period.
An Ohio driver's license may be required.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds; climb and work on ladders; distinguish colors; and work in hot, cold, dusty, dirty, or confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or trade school certificate in a maintenance or skilled-trades field.
Fire-stopping certification.
Experience with building maintenance standards and construction projects.
