About The Position

The Facilities Mechanic II is responsible for overall building maintenance, troubleshooting, and fixing heating, electrical, and plumbing systems. The Facilities Mechanic II will complete repair duties of a semi-skilled nature to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the site. The position will respond to maintenance request work orders in a timely manner and provide quality customer service when visiting outside departments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid, driver’s license
  • CPR/First-Aid (AHA BLS) certified within 30 days of hire and maintain while employed.
  • Three year’s maintenance experience in building and equipment repairs, construction, equipment installation.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year maintenance in healthcare or rehabilitation care facilities.
  • Advanced training or experience in one or more of the following areas: Electrical, mechanics, plumbing, ventilation, carpentry, refrigeration, pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all shop and mechanical equipment in a proper manner, to ensure a safe environment for themselves and others.
  • Installs and replaces steam, condensate, water, air and sewer piping as required for the safe and functional operation of equipment.
  • Function tests the emergency generators and completes other required inspections.
  • Assists with managing the inspections of Life Safety systems.
  • Reports deficiencies to Director.
  • Provides skilled interpretation of blueprints, specifications and equipment installation, operation, and service manuals.
  • Evaluates equipment malfunctions against verifiable or judgmental criteria.
  • Educated to make decisions affecting installation, operation, and repair of tools and equipment.
  • Assists with the establishment and operation of preventative maintenance program.
  • Inspects the facility for Life Safety deficiencies on a routine basis.
  • Maintains and utilizes appropriate knowledge and mechanical skills in the following areas: boilers to include; pumps, valves, controls, chemical treatment, and distribution systems.
  • Maintains the inventory of spare parts by ordering and evaluating usage for projects and repairs.
  • Assists with the installation of containment and negative air supply.
  • Continually leaves work areas in a neat, orderly condition, ensuring a safe, clean environment for patients, staff and visitors at all times.
  • Assists with the removal of snow and other ground maintenance.
  • Operates the computerized DDC Building Automation System.
  • Manages the work order and preventative maintenance system in the absence of the department director or lead.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff members as required.
  • Participates in the call rotation and work some nights and weekends as needed during emergencies.
  • Consistently seeks out work that needs to be completed; works on on-going projects; assists others as needed.
  • Effectively listens to and resolves concerns/complaints, escalates up the chain of command as needed.
