About The Position

Standard Bots is seeking a Facilities Manager for its manufacturing facility in Glen Cove, NY. This on-site role is crucial for managing the physical infrastructure of the company's primary manufacturing campus as it scales. The Facilities Manager will oversee the entire facilities lifecycle, from daily maintenance and safety compliance to long-term capacity planning for advanced manufacturing processes like CNC machining, surface finishing, painting, and potentially molten metal casting. This position requires close collaboration with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, EHS, and HR to ensure the facility supports production performance and a safe, productive work environment. It's a high-ownership, high-visibility role for someone comfortable with technical specifications, hazard identification, contractor negotiation, and strategic capital improvement planning.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of facilities management experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Direct people management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading a facilities or operations team, including hiring, developing, and holding people accountable.
  • Demonstrated experience managing facilities with heavy industrial processes (machining, painting/coating, casting, or equivalent).
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, building codes, fire and life safety systems, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Proven project management skills with experience running multiple large, concurrent construction or improvement projects on-time and on-budget.
  • Experience owning or managing significant capital projects ($500K+).
  • Familiarity with construction contracts (GMP, lump sum, T&M) and change order management.
  • A deep and active network of facilities suppliers and trade contractors.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
  • Hands-on technical competency to diagnose problems.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of running contractor meetings and presenting to executive teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IT/OT network convergence, industrial cybersecurity frameworks (IEC 62443 or equivalent), and building automation systems.
  • Experience supporting CNC machining environments (coolant systems, chip conveyors, ventilation).
  • Familiarity with spray booth design, VOC permitting, and NFPA 33 compliance.
  • Experience with cleanroom or controlled environment facilities (ISO 6–8).
  • CFM, FMP, or PE credential.
  • Experience in a high-growth, scaling manufacturing or robotics company.
  • Background in lean manufacturing or 6S program ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing facilities team, including technicians, maintenance engineers, IT/OT coordinators, and project coordinators.
  • Set performance expectations, conduct 1:1s and reviews, and create growth paths for team members.
  • Foster a culture of safety-first, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a player-coach, leading on complex problems while developing team independence.
  • Develop staffing plans to align with operational needs and facility expansions.
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for production, engineering labs, cleanrooms, and office spaces.
  • Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, and utility systems, including industrial-scale systems.
  • Manage and develop a facilities technician team, and oversee contractors and service vendors.
  • Ensure facility readiness for high-volume, continuous manufacturing operations, with production uptime as a key performance indicator.
  • Lead EHS programs, including OSHA compliance, chemical/hazmat management, emergency response, fire prevention, and industrial hygiene.
  • Manage permitting and regulatory compliance for industrial processes such as CNC machining, spray painting, and molten casting.
  • Conduct and document safety audits, near-miss investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Partner with HR and Engineering on ergonomics, PPE standards, and training.
  • Own the facility roadmap, planning and executing expansions, tenant improvements, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Lead all phases of construction and improvement projects, including scope definition, bid solicitation, contractor selection, oversight, commissioning, and close-out.
  • Implement rigorous project management discipline, including scheduling, milestone tracking, budget control, and risk identification.
  • Coordinate facility requirements for new process introductions (NPI), ensuring space, utilities, and workflow readiness.
  • Maintain accurate facility drawings, equipment layouts, and utility documentation.
  • Own lessons-learned processes to improve project execution speed and cost predictability.
  • Own the facility's operational technology (OT) environment, including industrial networks, PLCs, SCADA systems, and machine controllers.
  • Partner with IT and Engineering to manage IT/OT network convergence, segmentation, access controls, and cybersecurity.
  • Oversee facility-wide IT infrastructure, including structured cabling, server rooms, Wi-Fi, AV systems, access control, and surveillance.
  • Manage relationships with IT/OT vendors, integrators, and telecom providers, including contracts and SLAs.
  • Plan and execute technology infrastructure upgrades in sync with facility expansions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing Operations on MES, IoT sensor deployments, and production monitoring.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Operations on floor layout optimization, material flow, and 5S/lean standards.
  • Support Engineering with lab infrastructure, cleanroom maintenance, and test equipment utility requirements.
  • Manage receiving dock operations, loading areas, and material staging zones.
  • Own the ecosystem of facilities suppliers and contractors, including general contractors, specialty trades, service providers, and vendors.
  • Build and maintain a qualified vendor bench, cultivating long-term relationships.
  • Lead RFP, bid, and contract negotiation processes, establishing clear SLAs and accountability.
  • Manage vendor performance through regular reviews and resolve disputes.
  • Own the facilities operating and capital budget, managing spend against plan.
  • Drive cost efficiency and preferred vendor leverage without compromising safety, compliance, or reliability.
