About The Position

Under minimal direction, maintains and repairs Werfen building and facilities, oversees and evaluates the work of contractors, and performs a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility. This is a broad classification with individual positions assigned to specific functional areas. Duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department and staffing levels. The base hourly range for this role is currently $30.00/hr. to $36.00/hr. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs. This role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan retirement benefits with an employer match, as well as paid vacation and sick leave.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by specialized training in the building trades or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible general facilities maintenance experience.
  • Possession of a California Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Performs electrical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing, wall repair and painting work to maintain San Diego building.
  • Repairs locking systems on doors, files, cabinets and lockers.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Schedules preventative maintenance services.
  • Oversees building maintenance contract and service work; process and contract out repair requests.
  • Inspects facilities, buildings and grounds for routine maintenance; prioritize repairs and renovations, move office furniture as needed; ensures facilities and buildings are in compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal guidelines and safety regulations.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and plans.
  • Works independently, communicates effectively with employees and staff, and follows written and verbal instructions.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Participates in the preparation of the building maintenance budget; monitor budget expenditures. Requisitions building maintenance supplies, material and equipment; monitor inventory; load and unload supplies.
  • Loads and delivers tables and chairs to special events.
  • Run errands as needed.
