Facilities Maintenance Tech III
About The Position
Discovery Land Company is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for the Facilities Department at Makena Golf & Beach Club on Maui, Hawaii. The role maintains building equipment in good working condition, including pool and spa, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, lighting and climate control systems, roofing systems, ground support equipment, and maintenance and cleaning equipment. The technician contributes to the experience provided to members and fellow employees by completing assigned facility maintenance and repair work and communicating about tasks that may affect department service.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of hands-on experience with HVAC and electrical equipment and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in general maintenance and use of hand tools, including painting, sanding, basic electrical work, and snow removal.
- Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, and other drainage problems.
- Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with building electricity.
- Carpentry ability to handle basic building repairs.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong communication and interpersonal skills to serve members, guests, and team members.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Ability to work in a team environment and remain calm and focused during busy periods.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions; standing, walking, and moving for periods exceeding eight hours; and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than 60 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Complete daily and weekly maintenance activities for the club pool and spa.
- Complete projects assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager, including electrical, mechanical, basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance for club operations.
- Communicate information about tasks and projects that may affect service within a department.
- Keep work areas neat and organized, and clean up job sites appropriately.
- Follow safe work practices and project policies.
- Construct, install, or assemble small prefabricated furniture items such as shelving and marker or bulletin boards.
- Install, demolish, and repair partition walls, suspended acoustical ceilings, and window and wall trim on a limited scale.
- Paint and stain surfaces as necessary.
- Perform minor repairs to exterior areas, including parking lots, walls, windows, and landscape irrigation systems.
- Install signage as directed.
- Clear accumulated debris from roof surfaces.
- Clear visible items from roof drainage systems that may cause blockages and test drains for proper operation when possible.
- Perform other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
