About The Position

Nasittuq Corporation is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to lead Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for buildings, structures, heating and water treatment facilities, airfield operations equipment, and bulk fuel distribution equipment at the Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert. This role involves supervising trades staff to ensure high productivity, equipment maintenance, and safe, professional, and timely completion of all work. The position is located at CFS Alert, the northernmost permanently inhabited settlement globally, on Ellesmere Island.

Requirements

  • Journeyman trade, technical degree, or diploma in engineering, facility management, building trade management, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in similar facility operations (multi-disciplinary facilities and service functions) in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Proven experience in planning, scheduling, directing, and reporting on the safe operation and maintenance activities at the site.
  • Experience leading and managing multiple skilled trades positions.
  • Solid computer skills using the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and work well in a changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work/contribute well independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to balance priorities.
  • Ability to work and live with people of varied backgrounds in an isolated location with harsh weather conditions.
  • Full Drivers License for eligibility for DND 404.

Responsibilities

  • Effective management of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of Alert site buildings and structures, heating and water treatment facilities, airfield operations equipment, and bulk fuel distribution equipment.
  • Supervise trades staff.
  • Ensure high levels of productivity.
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment/services/systems.
  • Ensure completion of all work in a safe, professional, and timely manner.
