About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician III will perform various facilities maintenance activities and show leadership by participating in higher level maintenance functions. This role involves day-to-day facility maintenance, including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and security systems. The technician will also serve as a safety mentor to new hires and be available to cover for the maintenance supervisor. Leadership responsibilities include taking projects from inception to completion, working with internal and external partners, developing vendor relationships, and mentoring junior technicians.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED certified.
  • Must be in a GPEC Facilities Maintenance Technician II role for at least three years.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and climb.
  • Must be able to periodically lift and carry items weighing up to 62.5 pounds.
  • Must be able to read directions and instructions for equipment repair/installation.
  • Must be able to adequately use hand and power tools.
  • Must have a valid NC driver’s license to obtain supplies and materials.
  • Must have a driving record that meets the requirements of the Gregory Poole MVR policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry repairs and construction.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Conduct equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Make HVAC adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Perform janitorial duties.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and installation.
  • Monitor and perform minor repairs on security and fire controls.
  • Serve as a safety mentor to new hire facility maintenance technicians.
  • Cover for the maintenance supervisor when they are on vacation or otherwise unavailable.
  • Take on projects from inception to completion.
  • Work with internal and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with vendors.
  • Perform job duties with a safety-first attitude.
  • Demonstrate patience and the ability to mentor Maintenance Technicians I and II.
