About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. Good Samaritan Society – Albert Lea is an 85-bed long-term skilled care and transitional care facility located in southern Minnesota in an area known as “The Land Between the Lakes”. This is a full-time opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks completed in a safe, professional manner.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Competence in the use of hand tools, meters, and measuring devices and gauges.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals is helpful.
  • Good written and oral communications skills required.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.
  • Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
  • Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
  • Must understand written and verbal communications.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Trade school or vocational school preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in building systems preferred.
  • Depending on location, a valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks.
  • Take extra precautions when working in patient/resident care areas and keep tools out of the reach of children.
  • Troubleshoot conditions and situations accurately.
  • Function with safety, moral, and efficiency of the department in mind.
  • Work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
  • Comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
  • Understand written and verbal communications.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment (depending on facility size).
  • Maintain campus grounds and perform other outside maintenance duties (depending on facility size).
  • Perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance (depending on facility size).
  • May require on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department.
