About The Position

Good Samaritan Society – Albert Lea is an 85-bed long-term skilled care and transitional care facility located in southern Minnesota in an area known as “The Land Between the Lakes”. This is a full-time opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks completed in a safe, professional manner.

Requirements

Basic mechanical knowledge.
Competence in the use of hand tools, meters, and measuring devices and gauges.
Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals is helpful.
Good written and oral communications skills required.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.
Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
Must understand written and verbal communications.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Trade school or vocational school preferred.
Minimum of two years experience in building systems preferred.
Depending on location, a valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks.
Take extra precautions when working in patient/resident care areas and keep tools out of the reach of children.
Troubleshoot conditions and situations accurately.
Function with safety, moral, and efficiency of the department in mind.
Work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
Comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
Understand written and verbal communications.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment (depending on facility size).
Maintain campus grounds and perform other outside maintenance duties (depending on facility size).
Perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance (depending on facility size).
May require on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department.
