About The Position

The Lower Heart Water Board is seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities & Levee Maintenance Technician to help maintain the integrity of their levee system and related facilities. This part-time role is ideal for a self-starter who enjoys hands-on work, appreciates variety in their day, and values serving their community in a meaningful way. Hours will vary based on seasonal needs and weather conditions. The safety and security of the levee system are essential to the wellbeing of the community. This role plays a key part in ensuring our infrastructure remains strong, functional, and reliable throughout the seasons. Your work will directly support public safety and environmental integrity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid North Dakota Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable with confined space entry
  • Vision requirements include near and depth perception
  • Willingness to be on-call during emergencies and weather events

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in general maintenance or a related field preferred
  • North Dakota Commercial Applicator’s License (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct annual inspections of the levee and confined spaces (manholes)
  • Maintain and operate valves, pumps, and motorized equipment (mower, skid steer, front-end loader, etc.)
  • Patrol the dike for debris and safety concerns
  • Perform seasonal maintenance: mowing, trimming, weeding, snow removal, light repairs, and more
  • Keep accurate inventory and maintenance records
  • Ensure safe, compliant vermin control and pesticide application
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop and work areas
