About The Position

Continent 8 is hiring a Facilities Engineer (IC2-G4) for its South Burlington, Vermont team. This 100% in-office role supports a stable, secure, documented, scalable, and responsive systems environment and helps ensure reliable, high-performance operation of infrastructure and technical services. The position supports infrastructure and hosting operations, IT infrastructure and operations, network/server and storage systems, and additional build-outs. It includes data center operations with 24-hour monitoring and support, which may require overtime. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. EST. The role may require travel and lifting up to 50 pounds. Continent 8 provides secure edge-network and infrastructure-as-a-service solutions for demanding industries, including gaming, financial trading, transportation, energy, and utilities.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience working in and supporting IT technical environments and solutions.
Experience supporting data centers.
Demonstrated success supporting client solutions in an internet, network, communications, financial, enterprise, cloud, or data center environment.
Vendor management skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Accountability, including establishing and meeting aggressive expectations.
Collaborative approach.
Attention to detail.
Excellent written, listening, and communication skills.
Ability to operate independently with minimal management guidance.
Ability to travel when needed.

Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance for company infrastructure and hosting operations.
Support IT Infrastructure and Operations, including network, server, and storage systems.
Support additional build-outs and meet established service-level agreements (SLAs) for applications and services.
Establish working relationships with third-party providers, including internet service providers, phone carriers, and cloud providers.
Support a heterogeneous environment with multiple hardware vendors, including Cisco, HP, Dell, and F5, as well as Microsoft Windows and Linux.
Help ensure IT services operate functionally and adhere to their SLAs.
Research potential technology solutions and implementations for new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
Ensure availability of critical systems through regular review and testing.
Participate in escalation procedures and workflows to route and resolve issues promptly.
Support established IT infrastructure standards and policies.
Perform and support ITIL-based policies and procedures, including change management.
Help maintain a high-quality environment that supports client retention.
Document infrastructure changes and create tickets in the ticketing system.
Perform data center operations through 24-hour monitoring and support, with overtime potentially required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
