About The Position

Independently operate as the site-level facilities engineering subject matter expert (SME) for critical plant infrastructure, utilities, and building systems. Lead and program-manage complex capital facilities and construction projects while providing advanced technical leadership in reliability, compliance, and operational performance. Develop and sustain reliability-centered maintenance strategies and facility standards that enable safe, compliant, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. Partner closely with EHS, Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering to align facilities execution with site and business unit strategies and continuous improvement objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the SME for site-specific engineering issues involving plant infrastructure, utilities, and associated systems; lead structured problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Under minimal supervision, develop, implement, and optimize predictive, preventive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs, including maintenance strategies, decision logic, and predictive techniques; mentor and coach others in reliability and data-driven troubleshooting methods.
  • Lead site capital facilities and construction projects end-to-end, including scope definition, feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design review, budgeting, scheduling, execution, commissioning/validation, and turnover to operations and maintenance.
  • Provide expert consultation to site leadership on facilities engineering matters, including regulatory compliance (federal, state, local), consensus safety standards, and infrastructure risk; prepare technical documentation for regulatory, customer, and internal audits.
  • Develop business cases, cost/benefit analyses, and capital justifications supporting site facilities initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and master planning; prepare executive-level summaries and presentations.
  • Act as the site interface with external vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers, from specification development through procurement, installation, and operational integration, ensuring compliance with company standards and total cost-of-ownership objectives.
  • Negotiate, administer, and enforce contracts and purchase orders for specialized facilities services (e.g., utilities, alarm systems, controls, infrastructure upgrades); review invoices and authorize payments in accordance with policy.
  • Oversee maintenance and modification of building automation systems, process/utility controls, CMMS, and facilities change management processes, drive improvements in data accuracy, traceability, and performance reporting.
  • Coordinate closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Process Engineering to align facilities readiness with production needs, equipment installations, and technology transfers, into manufacturing.
  • Review and approve work performed by outside contractors for conformance to company standards and specifications; prepare technical facilities reports and analyses for site leadership.
  • Determine feasibility and design of new plant equipment or facility modifications considering cost, schedule, space constraints, capacity needs, and long-term site plans; proactively identify risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence using Lean and reliability principles (e.g., TPM concepts, Kaizen, 6S) to improve uptime, safety, energy efficiency, and operating cost.
  • Establish and improve site facilities standards, procedures, and performance metrics; support identification of training needs for maintenance and operations personnel related to new or upgraded systems.
  • Prepare and manage site facilities budgets; forecast capital, contractor, and resource needs; monitor expenditures and partner with purchasing to optimize cost and supplier performance.
  • Maintain strong safety leadership and accountability; partner with EHS to ensure safe design, safe execution of work, and compliant operation of facilities systems.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and work productively with a diverse workforce.
  • Assist and/or perform in other areas as assigned.
