About The Position

The Facilities Custodian performs custodial duties throughout the Gardens and Bok Tower Gardens facilities. The role involves indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions and maintaining clean, presentable public facilities. The custodian also assists visitors by answering questions and addressing problems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of custodial or janitorial work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
• Detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
• Ability to operate standard custodial equipment, including ladders, step stools, handcarts, vacuum cleaners, mops, and brooms.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to drive golf carts safely through the Gardens.
• Excellent internal customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect trash from outside trash cans throughout the Gardens.
• Inspect restrooms and stock and clean them according to the schedule or as needed.
• Sweep outdoor walkways around the Visitor Center, Café, and Gift Shop as needed.
• Clean and maintain Bok Tower Gardens buildings, including the Visitor Center, Exhibit Hall, bathrooms, Theatre, Horticulture Offices and Building, Information Booth, Annex Storage, Olmsted house, North Walk Restrooms, Discovery Center Restrooms, and Discovery Center Classroom.
• Sweep, mop, collect trash, dust ceilings and walls, and clean interior and exterior windows and mirrors.
• Be visible and available to assist visitors with questions or problems.
• Monitor public facilities, including gardens, restrooms, and picnic areas, to ensure cleanliness and appropriate presentation.
