About The Position

James Madison University (JMU), a Division I member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, is accepting applications for a part-time, 1500 hour Facilities Coordinator Assistant. As part of the Facilities and Events team within JMU Athletics, this position will have an assigned facility to oversee but will also assist at other athletic facilities across campus. Duties include but are not limited to: opening/closing facility; maintaining the appearance and functionality of the facility; providing varsity sporting and special event support; receiving, taking inventory of equipment; scheduling lights; and ensuring safe condition of the buildings.

Requirements

  • Must possess excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills
  • Must possess knowledge of risk management
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to move relatively heavy objects and moderate lift 20-50 lbs
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working within athletics or recreational facilities.
  • Prior experience in painting/lining fields.
  • Strong understanding and interest in college athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Act as building coordinator of assigned facilities.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned facilities and sport programs.
  • Ensuring assigned athletic facilities are properly prepared for daily use, performing tasks such as setting up, testing and troubleshooting game equipment, audio/visual systems, scoreboards, shot clocks, message boards, etc.
  • Preparing fields for day-to-day practice and game day use by performing tasks such as painting fields, setting up tables, chairs, benches, equipment, etc.
  • Making repairs and/or reporting maintenance repair needs by entering work orders.
  • Assist at other assigned facilities as assigned.
  • Work alongside full-time staff members and at times supervise student employees.
  • Work in support of assigned varsity game day operations and special events.
  • Work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays in varying weather conditions when needed.
