About The Position

The Facilities Apprentice Technician is an entry-level role designed to develop future Facilities Service Technicians through hands-on training, mentorship, and structured career development. This position is well-suited for recent high school graduates or graduates of a two-year technical or trade program with strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to build a career in commercial facilities maintenance. Working under experienced technicians, the apprentice performs preventive maintenance, inspections, equipment cleaning, and basic repairs on restaurant equipment while building the skills needed to advance into a Facilities Service Technician role. The program supports long-term career growth while strengthening a preventive maintenance program that improves equipment reliability and reduces emergency service calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic understanding of electrical systems.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work on ladders, rooftops, and in commercial kitchen environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical/trade school certificate.
  • Coursework in HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or refrigeration.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on commercial kitchen, HVAC, and refrigeration systems.
  • Clean and service fryers, cheese melters, re-thermalizers, grills, and other hot-side equipment.
  • Complete rooftop HVAC maintenance, including filter changes, coil cleaning, and inspections.
  • Clean condenser and evaporator coils on refrigeration equipment.
  • Sanitize ice machines and storage bins per manufacturer and food safety standards.
  • Inspect kitchen ventilation systems, hood filters, and related components.
  • Identify and report potential equipment issues before failure occurs.
  • Complete work orders and preventive maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicle in clean, professional condition.
  • Provide professional customer service in restaurant environments.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in technical training, manufacturer programs, and certifications.
