Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED diploma, three to six months of welding experience, trade schooling, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to weld in all positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead, with a consistent weld bead size.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, especially for intricate and complex parts.
  • Ability to fabricate and lay out work to meet design specifications and tolerances.
  • Ability to set up weld equipment and pass an all-position test using GMAW and FCAW-G processes.
  • Experience using fabrication shop equipment, including welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to follow all shop safety policies and practices.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Reliable with a good work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to six months of work experience in heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble metal parts to produce equipment according to customer and engineering specifications.
  • Use MIG welding machines with flux-cored wire electrode to complete assigned welding work.
  • Operate fabrication shop machinery and equipment, including welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Remove welding slag, burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance, including cleaning and changing consumable parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints for intricate parts to support precise fabrication and assembly according to design specifications.
  • Fabricate and lay out work to meet design specifications and tolerances.
  • Set up weld equipment and pass an all-position test using GMAW and FCAW-G processes.
  • Follow all shop safety policies and practices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervision.
