About The Position

The Fabricator (welder) fabricates hollow metal doors and frames. The role involves welding and finishing components, cutting holes with power tools, installing vision kits and glass, and using electric drills. The fabricator reads work orders and product templates to determine the required work and may perform other related duties as assigned. The position regularly operates in construction sites, warehouses, and shop environments, with possible travel to project sites.

Requirements

• High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of architectural door materials and hardware.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to perform arithmetic accurately, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
• Ability to work closely and cordially with other staff associates.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
• Ability to meet the described physical demands, including frequent lifting of 25–50 pounds and occasional lifting of items exceeding 50 pounds.

• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle hollow metal doors and frames weighing 60 to 150 pounds.
• Fabricate hollow metal doors and frames, including welding parts together.
• Use a jigsaw or other power tools to cut holes in doors and frames.
• Use an electric grinder to smooth welds.
• Install vision kits and glass in doors.
• Use electric drills.
• Read work orders and product templates to determine the fabrication required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
