About The Position

This role is responsible for exhibiting active leadership, ensuring safety is the top priority, and supporting the company's vision and strategies. The Fabrication Lead will communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other shifts, and enforce job rotation policies to prevent injuries. They will build relationships across departments, ensure the department has the necessary tools and resources, and keep other departments informed of any delays or changes. The lead will provide leadership to department team members by communicating priorities, assigning projects, developing cross-training, offering continuing education and coaching, ensuring expectations are met, monitoring performance, and delegating special projects. Additionally, they will identify cost-saving methods, analyze department data for continuous improvement, apply continuous improvement techniques, maintain a clean and orderly work area using 5S principles, and perform necessary audits. The role involves setting up and running equipment safely and efficiently to maximize output and meet quality standards, accurately fulfilling customer orders by reviewing manufacturing orders, ensuring quality practices, performing inspections, packaging orders, and maintaining work center schedules. The Fabrication Lead will also support and improve department key measures, create and train Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), and monitor/recommend process improvements for safety, rates, yield, and inspection techniques.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Machine Tool or other related program preferred
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience required
  • 1+ years of leadership experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to recognize safety concerns
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide strong servant leadership to support team members
  • Ability to take part in continuous education and training
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in every situation
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of all key department operations
  • Knowledgeable in companywide computer systems and programs
  • Ability to utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated cell area

  • Set up and run equipment safely and efficiently to maximize output and meet customer quality requirements.
  • Accurately and efficiently fulfill customer orders, including reviewing manufacturing orders, ensuring quality practices, performing inspections, packaging orders, and following work center schedules.
  • Continually support and improve the department’s key measures.
  • Create and train Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
  • Monitor and recommend appropriate process improvements to safety, rates, yield, and inspection techniques.
