Fabrication Equipment Engineer, Quantum AI

Google•Santa Barbara, CA
•$159,000 - $230,000

About The Position

As part of the Equipment Engineering team, the Fabrication Equipment Engineer helps ensure reliable, sustainable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment used to produce high-quality quantum devices. The role is part of Google Quantum AI, whose mission is to build a large-scale quantum computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations and enable solutions to classically intractable problems. The engineer installs and qualifies new equipment, performs routine and complex preventative maintenance, diagnoses and repairs equipment issues, and works with vendors to minimize production disruptions. The role collaborates with process engineers and other teams to optimize equipment performance, implements equipment upgrades and modifications, maintains detailed performance and maintenance records, and trains personnel in proper equipment use and maintenance. It also focuses on continuous improvement of equipment reliability, efficiency, and manufacturing processes. The position supports operations across multiple local facilities, including shared research labs. US compensation is $159,000–$230,000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
