About The Position

This position is responsible for the forming, cutting, sharpening, piercing, welding, and/or painting of fabricated materials for the use of a final product. The role involves various tasks within the fabrication shop, paint booth, and welding areas, requiring the use of specialized equipment and adherence to safety protocols. The associate will be responsible for their own product quality, troubleshooting, and maintaining a safe working environment. Specific duties include operating fabrication machinery, preparing and spraying paint, performing welding operations, and managing chemicals related to the paint line.

Requirements

  • Must be able to take and successfully pass an appropriate Work Keys assessment.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in area assigned to (Painting, Welding, Fabrication).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good understanding of basic shop math and measuring techniques.
  • Expertise with basic hand tools, air tools, gages and torque wrenches.
  • Expertise in using hoist and cranes.
  • Must have excellent natural or corrected vision.
  • Requires ability to reach overhead, lift up to 26 pounds repeatedly, be on feet for long hours, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Must be capable of working independently using initiative and problems solving skills.
  • Responsible for own product quality, proper measuring techniques, and tool use and care.
  • Read and understand moderately complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Forming, cutting, sharpening, piercing, welding, and/or painting of fabricated materials.
  • Take and successfully pass an appropriate Work Keys assessment.
  • Read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and schematics.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and obtain support from supervision and engineering as needed.
  • Provide input to supervision, engineering, and quality groups relative to product improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Perform testing and monitoring of chemical components and properties of paint line water tanks.
  • Replenish and maintain chemicals and materials in the area.
  • Manage water treatment and disposal systems.
  • Coordinate safety of employees within their area of responsibility, including ergonomics, chemical use, tool management, and OSHA incident investigations.
  • Form, cut, and pierce metal to create fabricated assembly units.
  • Utilize a wide variety of hand tools, air tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Operate fabrication machinery, using digital/electronic controls.
  • Move materials within the fabrication shop area.
  • Operate paint spraying equipment.
  • Mix and prepare paint.
  • Continuously load and unload parts.
  • Perform welding operations.
  • Ensure all safety measures are used during welding.
  • Move parts in and out of the welding area.
