About The Position

This position is responsible for the forming, cutting, sharpening, piercing, welding, and/or the painting of fabricated materials for the use of a final product. The job requires the ability to read and understand blueprints, perform basic shop math and measuring techniques, and use basic hand tools, air tools, gages, and torque wrenches. The role involves physical demands such as reaching overhead, lifting up to 35 pounds repeatedly, being on feet for long hours, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. The associate is responsible for their own product quality, proper measuring techniques, and tool use and care. They will evaluate and perform basic troubleshooting, obtaining support from supervision and engineering as needed. The role may involve providing input to supervision, engineering, and quality groups regarding product improvement. A key aspect of the role is establishing and maintaining a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements. The welder performs moderately complex welding operations, utilizes a variety of welding equipment with safety measures, and may be exposed to extreme temperatures and confined areas. The job conditions include the potential use of hazardous chemicals, and the requirement for safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Requirements

  • Possess a welding certificate from an outside entity (i.e. technical school, college, welding program).
  • Must have actively welded in the last year.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in area assigned to (Painting, Welding, Fabrication).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good understanding of basic shop math and measuring techniques.
  • Expertise with basic hand tools, air tools, gages and torque wrenches.
  • Excellent natural or corrected vision.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly.
  • Ability to be on feet for long hours.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, pull and push.
  • Capable of working independently using initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Read and understand moderately complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Forming, cutting, sharpening, piercing, welding, and/or painting of fabricated materials.
  • Performing moderately complex welding operations.
  • Utilizing a variety of welding equipment, ensuring all safety measures are used.
  • Evaluating and performing basic troubleshooting, and obtaining support from supervision and engineering as needed.
  • Periodically providing input to supervision, engineering, and quality groups relative to product improvement.
  • Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • Performing other tasks as may be requested to assure the effective and continuous utilization of assets.
  • Moving parts in and out of the Welding area.
