This position is responsible for the forming, cutting, sharpening, piercing, welding, and/or the painting of fabricated materials for the use of a final product. The job requires the ability to read and understand blueprints, perform basic shop math and measuring techniques, and use basic hand tools, air tools, gages, and torque wrenches. The role involves physical demands such as reaching overhead, lifting up to 35 pounds repeatedly, being on feet for long hours, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. The associate is responsible for their own product quality, proper measuring techniques, and tool use and care. They will evaluate and perform basic troubleshooting, obtaining support from supervision and engineering as needed. The role may involve providing input to supervision, engineering, and quality groups regarding product improvement. A key aspect of the role is establishing and maintaining a safe and healthful working environment in accordance with OSHA requirements. The welder performs moderately complex welding operations, utilizes a variety of welding equipment with safety measures, and may be exposed to extreme temperatures and confined areas. The job conditions include the potential use of hazardous chemicals, and the requirement for safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
