F5 Load balancing engineer :: Chandler, AZ Hybrid
About The Position
The Senior F5 Load Balancer Engineer serves as a subject matter expert supporting complex, large-scale initiatives in the consumer banking space. The role focuses on designing, integrating, implementing, and supporting load-balancing solutions, with particular expertise in F5 Networks and VMware AVI. The engineer collaborates with application developers, network and security engineers, project managers, internal banking teams, lines of business, and external vendors to meet application needs and resolve technical issues. The role includes defining application infrastructure integration frameworks, best practices, and standards; producing high- and low-level designs; implementing or handing off solutions for implementation; and providing Level 3 support and direction for production issues. It also owns end-to-end load-balancing documentation, capacity and threshold planning, workload management, and lifecycle management of the product set. The engineer participates in feature enhancements, code and certification activities, and vendor engagements involving chronic issues, bugs, and enhancements. The position is hybrid in Chandler, Arizona.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in F5 Networks and VMware AVI load balancing.
- Strong enterprise network background, including engineering, design, and troubleshooting.
- Strong network and application security background, including understanding application flows and underlying networks.
- Programming and scripting knowledge, including Python, Perl, Java, and JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with low-level design and configuration.
- Experience delivering high- and low-level designs, implementing and troubleshooting production environments, and providing Level 3 support.
Responsibilities
- Work with application developers, network and security engineers, and project managers to deploy load-balancing solutions that meet application needs.
- Lead and design application infrastructure integration frameworks and define best practices and standards.
- Participate in project calls and gather detailed technical requirements from internal bank groups and lines of business.
- Create high-level designs for load-balancing infrastructure and changes.
- Create low-level designs, including configuration details, and perform hands-on work.
- Implement solutions or provide the details needed to hand them over to an implementation team.
- Provide Level 3 support and direction for production-related issues.
- Document end-to-end load-balancing designs.
- Establish capacity and threshold management plans and details for workload management.
- Work with external vendors, including F5, on chronic issues, bugs, and feature enhancements.
- Participate in and provide guidance for new feature enhancements, code, and certification.
- Support lifecycle management of the load-balancing product set.
- Apply network scripting and programming to load-balancing work.
