About The Position

Leidos is seeking an F5 Load Balance Network Engineer to support a large enterprise IT contract for the Department of Defense. The role implements, operates, and maintains load balancer technologies across a global enterprise and multiple networks, including on-premises and cloud resources. The engineer upgrades technologies, tunes performance, and implements critical system patches while working with a team to meet internal and external customer mission needs. The position is available at Leidos sites in Alexandria, Virginia; Tampa, Florida; an undisclosed location in Maryland; Omaha, Nebraska; or Millington, Tennessee. The role includes after-hours support for 24/7/365 IT Operations Center personnel. Employment is contingent upon completing the designated classes and obtaining the required certification. U.S. citizenship and the specified security clearance are required.

Requirements

Experience administering and managing F5 load balancer appliances in an enterprise environment.
Knowledge of standards, concepts, and tools for monitoring and managing F5 appliances.
Technical knowledge of backing up PKI certificates and appliance configurations.
Experience creating, managing, and troubleshooting load-balanced IP address spaces.
Ability to work independently in support of customer requirements.
Experience interfacing with team members on requirements and solutions.
Familiarity with IT Service Management products such as ServiceNow.
At minimum, meet DoDM 8140.03 (previously DoD 8570) IT System Admin Intermediate certification requirements, with one of the listed certifications or higher: Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+ CE, or GSEC.
Possess an F5 Certified Administrator (201) certification or higher.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and at least 8 years of prior relevant experience, or a master’s degree and 6 years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S. citizenship.
TS/SCI with Poly, or TS/SCI and willingness to obtain and maintain a polygraph.
Complete the designated classes and obtain the specified certification; the role is contingent upon doing so.

Responsibilities

Ensure SSL/TLS offloading and brokering PKI authentication features provided by the F5 appliance remain operational.
Back up load-balancing configurations and PKI certificates in accordance with customer policies.
Alert load-balancing and reverse-proxy customers before PKI certificates expire and assist with renewals as needed.
Create, manage, and troubleshoot load-balanced IP address spaces.
Develop and implement technical solutions in collaboration with engineers and architects.
Provide after-hours troubleshooting support to 24/7/365 IT Operations Center personnel during service outages.
Develop and update technical solutions, operating procedures, and other documentation to support initial troubleshooting and triage by IT Operations Center personnel.
