About The Position

Erie Foods, an Actus Nutrition Company, is seeking an Extrusion Operator to join its Rochelle, Illinois team. The operator sets up and operates extruders and upstream and downstream unit operations, including automated bagging equipment, efficiently and productively, while ensuring the quality of powder or crisp products. The role includes starting up, running, troubleshooting, shutting down, and cleaning extruders and automated bagging lines; coordinating production with the production supervisor; communicating with other operators and the blender; monitoring production settings and critical control points; and checking product quality and making adjustments when needed. The operator is also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area and following hygiene, GMP, and safety requirements. The position pays $20.75 per hour, with a $0.75 night-shift differential. The schedule is 7:00 p.m. to 7:20 a.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation. Advancement opportunities are available to current employees.

Requirements

Previous exposure to a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Be willing to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to be a team player.
Maintain legal authorization to work in the United States throughout employment; employment sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate extruders and upstream and downstream unit operations, including automatic bagging equipment, efficiently and productively.
Start up, operate, troubleshoot, shut down, and clean the extruder machine.
Start up, operate, troubleshoot, shut down, and clean automated bagging lines.
Coordinate production runs with the production supervisor to ensure orders are completed on time.
Communicate with the relieving operator and the operator running automated bagging lines about equipment and production status.
Communicate with the blender to ensure adequate materials are prepared for the current order and blend materials as required.
Monitor and record production line set points and critical control points.
Monitor product quality attributes, including particle size distribution, moisture content, pH, sediments, bulk density, and shape, and adjust processing to correct deviations.
Report issues to the Utility or Production Supervisor overseeing the shift.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Follow personal hygiene, GMP, and safety requirements and procedures.
