About The Position

Novolex is hiring an Extrusion Operator to safely operate extrusion machinery and meet production standards for waste, quality, efficiency, and utilization. The role involves troubleshooting and adjusting machinery, resolving production issues, inspecting product quality, and helping less experienced personnel. The operator also completes end-of-shift records for crew time, machine time, and production quantities, while following housekeeping, standard work, and safety guidelines. The available shifts are 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.; the position requires rotating 12-hour schedules, including every other weekend.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment as an Extrusion Machine Operator.
• Willingness and ability to work rotating 12-hour schedules, including every other weekend.
• Ability to arrive before the shift and be prepared to begin work on time.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting experience with extrusion machines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Detailed record-keeping skills.
• Analytical and math skills.
• Ability to perform quality checks and understand production measurement tools.
• Knowledge of product quality standards.
• Mechanical aptitude, demonstrated problem-solving skills, and manual dexterity.
• Ability to wear required PPE, such as hairnets, beard-nets, steel-toed shoes or boots, ear protection, and bump caps.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate machines at or above standard levels for waste, quality, efficiency, and utilization.
• Troubleshoot, identify, and correct machine-related problems by making appropriate adjustments.
• Provide innovative solutions to production issues.
• Support and guide less experienced personnel.
• Complete end-of-shift paperwork recording crew time, machine time, and production quantities.
• Inspect products, recognize defects, and adjust machinery to correct the causes of defects.
• Follow housekeeping, standard work, and safety guidelines.
