Extrusion Operator Assistant (STP)
About The Position
The Extrusion Operator Assistant supports the extrusion operator with routine production tasks, including assisting with machine startup, monitoring resin feed, cleaning rollers and machine surfaces, organizing production rolls on pallets, delivering samples to the laboratory, and maintaining a clean workspace. The role applies the company’s Core Values in the work environment and is performed primarily on the manufacturing floor. The assistant reports directly to the Team Lead and, when required, to the Extrusion Coordinator. The position requires working around machinery and may involve loud noise, high temperatures, and chemicals. Personal protective equipment is required. The employee must have their own transportation to visit more than one facility during the day.
Requirements
- At least 3 months of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge to assist with operating blown film extrusion machines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong communication skills to interact with staff at all levels, including team leads and managers.
- Basic computer skills for operational and communication purposes.
- Self-sufficient and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work in high- and low-temperature environments.
- Ability to climb stairs multiple times a day.
- Own transportation to visit more than one facility during the day.
- Use of required personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the extrusion operator with basic tasks.
- Keep the work area clean and free of materials on the floor throughout the shift.
- Assist with extruder startup operations.
- Continuously monitor resin feed to the extruder.
- Assist with cleaning rollers and machine surfaces.
- Organize production rolls on pallets.
- Deliver samples to the laboratory.
- Provide support during machine startup.
