Extrusion Machine Operator
About The Position
The 3D printing industry is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing industries in the world today and Polymaker is part of the momentum. Polymaker develops, produces and markets high value materials for 3D printing. Our company is growing rapidly and can be described as young, open and energetic. Polymaker has been active in the US since 2013. We have built up a network of channel partners who serve end-users from all over the United States. Our end-users are hobbyists, professionals and industrial customers who 3D print high quality parts using our filaments. From our 40,000 SF facility in Missouri City, TX, we currently manage the production, sales, marketing, planning, and distribution of 3D printing filament for the North America region. The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for operating all equipment on an extrusion line. Extrusion line equipment consists of pellet hopper, pellet feeder, extruder, extrusion bath, tensioner, winder, and spool take-off.
Requirements
- 12 Hour Shifts; from 3 – 4 shifts/week (alternating schedule)
- Reliable transportation to and from the facility
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Walking, standing, bending, lifting, and reaching are normal expected movements during a shift
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or refinery facility
- Willingness to learn and teach others
- Open to taking both direction and feedback from others
- Willingness to learn and adopt core values of the company
Nice To Haves
- Previous extrusion experience
- Previous plastic manufacturing experience
Responsibilities
- Operation of a single or twin-screw plastic extruder, including material preparation, equipment setup, winding, and cleaning
- Document production rate against shift plan and complete work order information
- Document all equipment, material, and quality issues during shift
- Follow all process work instructions
- Follow all company environmental, health, and safety standards
- Stop work authority – STOPS all work if unsafe conditions are identified
- Communicate areas of improvement
