About The Position

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Extreme Weather Response Coordinator to oversee the daily operation and staffing of the Extreme Weather Response Program across multiple sites. If you’re passionate about supporting people experiencing homelessness, leading a dedicated team, and making a tangible difference every day, we want to hear from you! Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of operations and supervision of the Extreme Weather Response Program at multiple locations. This includes maintaining appropriate staffing levels, scheduling and ensuring coverage for all shifts, performing frontline duties alongside staff, and serving as a positive role model to staff and volunteers. The role also involves participating in the training of new staff, partnering with a variety of diverse stakeholders including other social service providers and government agencies to increase community awareness of homelessness, making recommendations on the development and evaluation of the program, and overseeing program budgets and invoicing. Working under the guidance and supervision of the Manager, the Coordinator determines appropriate project staffing levels and participates in recruitment, including interviewing, candidate selection, and making hiring recommendations, while ensuring staff and volunteers are adequately oriented, trained, and supervised. The Coordinator may also prepare confidential documents on sensitive personnel matters and recommend appropriate action, supervise employees, and identify and respond to misconduct, including recommending and implementing disciplinary procedures and assisting with discharge. Other related duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma in social services or a related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with homeless and vulnerable populations.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Ability to assume a leadership position within the staff team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and mediation skills.
  • Highly organized and solutions-focused.
  • Ability to strategically plan and organize workload.
  • Ability to work effectively with co-workers, clients, and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated competency in the area of homelessness.
  • Strong knowledge of promising practices in the field.
  • Ability to collaborate well in a team setting.
  • Established problem-solving capabilities.
  • Provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector search prior to start date.
