About The Position

VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) is seeking an Extreme Cleaner to provide practical and thorough household assistance to VHA clients. This role involves working with diverse client groups to meet public health standards, including de-cluttering, washing surfaces, doing laundry, and cleaning appliances. The goal is to encourage client independence and prevent or delay institutionalization, all within the client service plan and VHA's policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year's experience in private or institutional cleaning.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Ability to work independently while following pre-set instructions and work cooperatively with the care-giving team.
  • Ability to read and write English (equivalent to the Grade 8 level).
  • Must be flexible to be able to support a diverse client group.
  • G License and driving is mandatory.
  • Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel across Durham.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with vulnerable clients who are dealing with age-related health conditions and/or mental disabilities is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a combination of home cleaning services including washing floors, sinks, and related surfaces; vacuuming, dusting and wiping down fridge and stove exterior; laundry and ironing; emptying wastebaskets; polishing furniture; washing accessible interior windows; and cleaning and organizing the inside of cupboards, stoves and fridges.
  • Performs tasks according to the client's specifications, and using the client's products and equipment, according to a pre-set time allowance as arranged by the agency.
  • Any task may be added or replaced at the client's specific request.
  • Completes time-keeping protocols ensuring accuracy and timely submission in accordance with VHA policy.
  • Participates in team meetings as requested, with a commitment to contribution and service development.
  • Participates on project teams as appropriate.
  • Shares in handling workload for positive results.
