About The Position

The Bowen Summer Public Interest Fellowship is a temporary, fixed-term position for students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's Bowen School of Law. Five students will be selected to dedicate ten weeks to working full-time in the public sector with a reputable public interest employer. Preference will be given to applicants working with organizations that cannot compensate them. An additional fellowship is available for students wishing to work in an Arkansas rural community. This fellowship is funded by Wilson & Associates. Each selected fellow will receive a $6,000 stipend, with an initial $1,000 payment and the remainder distributed bi-monthly. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed at least two semesters of full-time law school study (or equivalent credits for part-time students).
  • Applicants who dedicate their time to organizations that cannot compensate them.
  • Ability to perform legal research using a computer and/or physical materials
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs.
  • Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Work full-time for 12 weeks with a public service organization during the summer months

  • Completing other tasks, as requested
